MAVIC KSYRIUM SL: Better Than Expected

Surly Pacer
My Surly Pacer, built 20 years ago.
I suddenly wondered if rebuilding it with modern components would make it easier to ride.
So, I immediately started looking into it.

I decided to change the wheels to improve the ride comfort and gear ratio.
This is because I wanted to go tubeless and install a larger sprocket.
However, there are very few choices for rim brake wheels with the new ETRTO standard, an inner width of 19mm or more, and tubeless compatibility.
MAVIC KSYRIUM SL(キシリウム)
This time, I chose the MAVIC KSYRIUM SL.
MAVIC KSYRIUM SL (Ksyrium) is tapeless
The MAVIC KSYRIUM SL has a front and rear weight of 1480g, requires no rim tape, is tubeless-compatible, and costs 110,000 yen, making it incredibly cost-effective.
Valve supports tire insert
Tubeless valves and quick release levers are included, and the tubeless valves are compatible with tire inserts.
This time, I didn't install tire inserts to avoid the extra weight, but if you're not confident in changing a tire when you get a flat, I highly recommend tire inserts.
By the way, tire inserts weigh about 30g per wheel.

Well, after mounting Vittoria Corsa N.ext 30c tires, the total weight for the front and rear wheels was 2.3kg.
The original wheelset weighed 3.1kg, so I successfully shaved off about 800g.
Furthermore, I'm changing the sprocket from 13-26 to 11-34, which should make riding much easier.
